GameSync WP is a small, independent games-database toolkit for WordPress: an IGDB-powered importer, a lineup of themes, and a few plugins that make a games catalog site feel less like a stack of blog posts and more like an actual games site.
Why it exists
I wanted a clean way to pull structured game data — cover art, platforms, genres, ratings — straight from IGDB into WordPress, without wiring up a custom post type and a dozen meta fields by hand every time. The free GameSync Game Data Importer plugin is that tool. Everything else in the lineup (the GameSync PixelWire, GameSync Deals, GameSync Presswire, GameSync Ludexa, GameSync Arcade and GameSync Nocturne themes, GameSync Game Ratings, GameSync Related Games and GameSync Review Breakdown) grew out of the same project: making a games site look and behave the way a games site should, on ordinary WordPress hosting, with no subscription and no vendor lock-in.
What’s included
- GameSync Game Data Importer — search, import and manage games from IGDB (free, including bulk import and resync).
- GameSync PixelWire — a full dark/light/auto gaming magazine theme.
- GameSync Deals — a bright retail theme for deal sites, with sale tags, new and old prices, coupon codes, a Deal of the Day, price history with a Lowest price yet tag, a filterable Deals page, deal votes and price-target alerts, a weekly deals e-mail and an optional dark colour scheme.
- GameSync Presswire — a warm, paper-toned editorial review theme with magazine issues, a review scorecard, critic pages, reviews timeline and ranked Canon lists.
- GameSync Ludexa — a wiki-style reference theme with an auto-generated Contents box, a quick-facts infobox, a Compare games page, article history tabs, a Recent changes page and a choice of Classic, Paper and Night looks.
- GameSync Arcade — a neon, always-dark arcade theme with glowing cards and pixel-font banners.
- GameSync Nocturne — a dark, teal-accented game-library theme with member favorites, a Submit Game form and uploaded trailers.
- GameSync Game Ratings — simple 1–5 star ratings for any post type.
- GameSync Related Games — hand-picked, two-way related content.
- GameSync Review Breakdown —multi-criteria review system for any post type
Who’s behind it
GameSync WP is built and supported by me, Thomas Holde, working from Køge, Denmark. There’s no team or company behind the name — just one person who answers the support inbox, ships the updates, and uses these plugins on my own sites. That also means support replies come from someone who actually wrote the code, and I aim to reply as soon as possible.
