Setup guides and reference material for GameSync WP Importer, GameSync Lite, PixelWire, Post Ratings, and Manual Related Posts.
Getting started: GameSync WP Importer
- Install and activate the plugin (free tier works out of the box, no license key needed).
- Create a free Twitch developer application — IGDB’s API runs on Twitch credentials. This gives you a Client ID and Client Secret.
- In wp-admin, go to Games > Settings and paste in your Client ID and Client Secret, then click Test connection to confirm it’s working.
- Go to Games > Search & Import, search IGDB by title, and click Import on any result to create a Game post with cover art, platforms, genres and rating already filled in.
Upgrading to Pro
Entering your license key under Games > License unlocks, without any re-install:
- Bulk Import — queue up hundreds of games at once; the importer works through them in the background in small batches.
- Resync All — refresh every already-imported game’s data from IGDB in one click.
- The Trailers/Videos and Screenshots editor on each Game post.
GameSync Lite (free theme)
Activate it like any WordPress theme under Appearance > Themes. It ships with templates for the Game post type and a games archive, so imported games display correctly with no extra setup.
PixelWire (Pro theme)
Activate PixelWire the same way, then visit the dedicated PixelWire menu in wp-admin to configure it — no digging through the Customizer. From there you can set:
- Light / dark / auto color scheme
- Homepage hero carousel (hand-picked or random games)
- Featured games section
- Header, footer and social links
Post Ratings
Once active, a 1–5 star rating widget appears automatically on single posts (configurable per post type). Each visitor can cast one vote, and can change it later. No shortcode needed for the default placement; see the plugin’s own settings screen for display options.
Manual Related Posts
Add the [manual_related_posts] shortcode anywhere in a post, page, or template to display hand-picked related content. In the post editor, use the Related Posts panel to search and pick related items. Turn on two-way relationships in the plugin settings so picking one side automatically links the other — including a one-click backfill for relationships you already set up before turning it on.
