GameSync Deals Theme

A bright retail theme for game deal sites — % off tags, new and old prices on every card, a Deal box with a coupon code and buy button on each game, and a sortable Deals page, all entered by hand and configurable from wp-admin.

Works with or without the GameSync Game Data Importer — falls back to blog posts everywhere if it isn't active

Try GameSync Deals on a real site

A full WordPress install running this theme with the premium Importer and more than 500 imported games. Click around -- nothing here is a screenshot.

Demo content is imported from IGDB for demonstration only. Newsletter, account and email features on the demos are for show.

Light by default
Your sale accent

A clean light look with one strong sale color — orange-red by default, changeable in a single field. It colors the % off tags, buttons and banners; prices are set in green so they stand out. A dark color scheme is one setting away, and visitors can switch for themselves.

Built to sell

A games site that feels like a sale

A Deal box on every game

Type the sale price, regular price, store, your affiliate link, an optional coupon code and the last day of the deal. The % off is worked out for you.

Sale tags and prices on cards

A "-60%" tag on the image (a yellow FREE tag for free games) and the new price next to the struck-through regular price, everywhere a game is listed.

Hot Deals and Ending Soon

A Deal of the Day card (and an optional bar under the header) plus two homepage rows fill themselves: the biggest discounts, and deals ending within a week. A Top Deals box in the sidebar keeps them in view on every page.

A sortable Deals page

Visitors sort by biggest discount, ending soon, price or newest, and filter by minimum discount and store. A shortcode puts a deals grid on any page.

Deals end by themselves

Cards show an "Ends in 2 days" pill that turns red and counts down live in the last 24 hours. After the last day, the tag, the price and the buttons disappear on their own, in your site's time zone. A visitor with an old link sees "This deal has ended".

Everything from wp-admin

Sale accent color, currency, homepage sections, sidebar, ads, social links and footer — its own GameSync Deals admin menu, no Customizer digging.

Everything, in detail

Full feature list

Deals

Deal box on every game and post: sale price, regular price, store, deal link, coupon code and last day.
The % off is calculated for you; a price of 0 shows a FREE tag.
Click-to-copy coupon codes, and "Get this deal at Steam" buttons marked as sponsored links for your affiliate links.
Deals switch off automatically after their last day, with a muted "deal ended" note on the game page.
Currency symbol, position and code are settings, so prices read the way your visitors expect.
Price information (schema.org Offer, or AggregateOffer when several stores are listed, with the regular price as list price and the last day as valid-until) is added to the game page's search data, and a Deal column shows each game's deal in the admin list.
Visitors can vote Good deal / Not great and report that a deal has ended; you get an e-mail, and from three reports the Deal box warns other visitors.
A slim best-price bar with the cheapest price and the buy button appears at the bottom of the screen once the Deal box has scrolled away.

Homepage & discovery

Deal of the Day (automatic or hand-picked), Hot Deals and Ending Soon rows that fill themselves from your live deals, plus a Top Deals box in the sidebar.
A Deals page with sort (biggest discount, ending soon, price, newest), filters (minimum discount, store, genre, platform, price band) and a Cards / List switch, and a [gsdl_deals] shortcode.
Price-target alerts: logged-in visitors type "tell me when it is under $10" and get one e-mail when a deal reaches it.
Coloured store badges and a "Price at each store" table, so visitors can compare the same game across several stores.
A "Recently ended" view, with a "Notify me if it returns" button that emails the visitor when a new deal appears. An ended deal's page shows when it ended, the last and lowest prices, the other stores' last prices and live deals in the same genre.
An optional Free games shelf on the homepage, and an optional clean-up that removes old deal fields a set number of days after a deal ended.
A Deals RSS feed, "Share this deal" links, and "Deals grid" and "Deal of the day" blocks for the block editor.
Price history: a "Lowest price yet" tag and a small price chart in the Deal box, built from the prices you save.
A weekly deals email, built for you from the biggest discounts and the deals ending soon, sent by hand or automatically on the day you choose.
Hero slider with the sale tag and price on each slide, a pause button and screen-reader announcements.
Optional news ticker, Featured Games, reorderable homepage sections and a row for every genre you choose.
"Most Viewed" rows with an optional Trending This Week ranking.
A "Watch Videos Now" strip, pulled automatically from games with a YouTube trailer.

Game & archive pages

Release date, Trailers & Videos, Screenshots, Download, Buy The Game, Related Links and Related Games -- each toggleable and reorderable.
Steam, GOG, Epic and affiliate store buttons beside the deal button.
Related Games gives priority to hand-picked games from the companion GameSync Related Games plugin, falling back to genre-based matches.
GameSync Game Ratings and Review Breakdown scores show as badges on the cards.
Thumbnail/List view toggle with infinite scroll on every archive, taxonomy and search page.
Colored tag pills for every genre, category and platform, assigned automatically.

Visitor accounts

A My Account hub page, auto-created on activation.
Favorites -- logged-in visitors can bookmark any game or post, and can opt in to an email when a favorited game goes on sale.
Game Status tracking -- Want to Play, Playing, Completed.
Recently Viewed -- the last 12 games a visitor looked at, deduped automatically.
Follow a Genre for an email alert the moment a matching game is published.
Themed Log In, Register and Lost Password pages in the site's own layout.

Design & admin control

A light retail look: white cards that lift on hover, accent section banners with a yellow tag notch, a promo strip across the top.
An optional dark color scheme -- Light, Dark or Auto -- with a sun/moon button so each visitor can choose, and the Deal box, price table and pills follow it.
One sale accent color drives the tags, buttons and banners -- change it in a single field.
Bulk Deals: edit many deals in one table, apply an action to the ticked rows, or import and export a spreadsheet (CSV).
A dedicated GameSync Deals admin menu: Display Options, Deals, Homepage Sections, Game Page, Sidebar Sections, Footer, Advertising, Social Links, Affiliate Stores, Floating CTA Button, Contact Form, Newsletter.
Reorderable, toggleable sidebar sections, with a left/right sidebar-position setting.
Five ad slots (three in the sidebar, two on the homepage) that can be hidden from logged-in members.
Respects reduced-motion settings and has a visible keyboard focus ring everywhere.

Under the hood

One consistent, fully custom sidebar shared across every page -- no default widgets ever leak in.
Automatic view counter and reading time on every post and game, powering the Most Viewed section.
Newsletter subscriber post type with CSV and XLSX export, no third-party email service required.
A dedicated Send Newsletter screen -- compose, preview, send a test, then broadcast to every subscriber in small background batches.
Open Graph/Twitter Card tags and VideoGame schema.org JSON-LD built in, skipped automatically if an SEO plugin is active.
Cached homepage and deal queries for performance.

Common questions

Do I need a price feed or an API?

No. Deals are typed in by hand on each game, so the theme works with any store or affiliate network and nothing breaks when a store changes its API. The prices are yours to keep current.

Does it work without the Importer plugin?

Yes — deals can be added to regular blog posts too, and every games-only section falls back to showing your posts instead. The importer just makes it much faster to fill a catalog.

What happens when a deal ends?

If you set a last day, the tag, price and button disappear by themselves after it, using your site's time zone. The game page then shows a muted "This deal has ended" note until you update or clear the deal. Re-syncing a game from IGDB never touches your deal fields.

Is there a dark mode?

Yes — since 1.4.0 you can choose Light (the default), Dark or Auto, which follows each visitor's device, under GameSync Deals → Display Options. A sun/moon button in the header lets visitors pick for themselves, and their choice is remembered on their own device. The top bar, hero and footer, and your sale accent color, stay the same in both.

Can I use my own currency?

Yes — set the currency symbol, whether it goes before or after the number, and the three-letter currency code under GameSync Deals → Deals. The code is passed to search engines with each price.
